Taylor Power Systems Hosts Third Annual Top Technician Competition

Last week Taylor Power Systems held its 2021 Top Technician Competition at the headquarters in Clinton, MS. This was the third year that the competition has been conducted.

The competition brought together nine talented generator technicians from several Taylor Sudden Service offices throughout the southeast and placed each technician in various troubleshooting scenarios on an assortment of Taylor Power and vendor products. This included the technician diagnosing and rectifying issues on assorted generator engines, transfer switches, and controls. In addition to generator troubleshooting, this year marked the introduction of a Taylor Machine Works GT Forklift, which amplified the difficulty and excitement.

The competition was tight throughout, specifically between two technicians that rose to the top of the leader board - James McGowan and Danny Patterson. However, at the conclusion, only one of these two technicians would emerge triumphant and claim the title of 2021 Top Service Technician.

Congratulations to 2021 Top Technician winner, James McGowan. James is a service technician at the Richland, Mississippi office. This was James' first time competing in the Top Tech Competition. Furthermore, hats off to 2nd place finisher Danny Patterson, also a technician from the Richland office, and Jimmy Williams of the Mobile office for finishing 3rd.

Overall, each technician that participated tackled the competition head-on and we are proud of their effort and willingness to learn. We also want to say thank you to our vendor partners and judges. Without their support and time, this competition is not possible.
